Accreditation
Refractive Surgery is an interdisciplinary specialty. The WCRS recognizes that cooperation and collaboration with other groups are absolutely necessary as a basis for operating in the healthcare space for Refractive Surgery and the Visual Sciences.
Accreditation is verification given by the authoritative power of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences credentialing department for meeting baseline requirements of a set of predetermined standards in the field of Refractive Surgery.
The WCRS redefines education and training in Refractive Surgery through a framework that can systematically link, collate and organize new and present educational information and programs in order to bring organization and added value innovation to the field of Refractive Surgery by credentialing through accreditation and certification.
Accreditation of Clinics and Institutions
This will involve an official review process of the WCRS Credentialing Department by survey:

- Equipment & Technology
- Ability of the facility to meet the regulatory requirements and set-standards for Refractive
Surgery in:
- Patient Treatment

- Examination
- Surgery
- Patient Safety
- Quality Improvement
- Environmental Safety
Accreditation of Education and Training
Education and training in Refractive Surgery are usually pursued post-residency and involve a baseline set-standard subject requirement of knowledge and adequacy of surgical training.
The WCRS believes learning is not monolithic. Articles, periodicals, books, live lectures, presentations, videos, webinars, and pre-recorded virtual programs qualify as educational materials.
Any materials, lectures, or course from any ophthalmic organization, society, or program is available for scrutiny and credentialing by the WCRS.
Accredited Refractive Surgery knowledge should be relevant for medical or surgical vision correction as well as ongoing support and maintenance of sight.
The practice of Refractive Surgery involves knowledge and training in Comprehensive Refractive Surgery and the Visual Sciences. This is related to both core competencies (in-depth) subjects and non-core (breadth) subject matter.
The material, lecture schedule, or program will be evaluated by the WCRS Credentialing Department for their relevance to the specialty of Refractive Surgery.
